This made me laugh, but maybe you'd have had to have been there. My daughter is five. She is not usually melodramatic in the D.W. style, although this morning was an exception. Daughter: MAMA! What in the world am I giving you for Mother's Day? Me: I don't really need or want anything, kiddo. Daughter: I don't believe that. I think you want something. Me: Nope. Well, yes, I do want things, but what I want is far beyond her control.Daughter: MAMA! I am your cheap, cheap daughter! I only have a... a... a 2 dollar... or maybe it's a 5 dollar! Me: That's YOUR money! You don't need to spend it on me! Daughter: MAMA! I can't buy you anything with only 2 dollar or a 5 dollar! MAMA! Do you want a pet black whale? Me: Why would I want that? Daughter Well, also there are other colors.

She later asked me if I wanted donkeys.
I love the leap from "I'm so cheap that I can't buy anything" to "DO YOU WANT GIANT PETS?"
Gotta wonder about how kids view money.
I'm flattered by the appreciation, too! ♥ This should be an interesting Mother's Day!

This is over half a year old, but I was going through my files and found a picture drawn of the two of us as Disney Princesses. (I didn't draw it, and the person who was drawing these is no longer taking commissions because she was swamped with literally around a hundred people asking for similar drawings -- and in fact, I had asked for others, but this was the only picture she had time to translate to animation.) Somehow, finding this reminded me of our conversation.
