This is basically the sequel to the Mother's Day Conversation thread. I know exactly how my daughter feels, in a different way. I want to give my husband some amazing surprise for Father's Day next week, and I don't have any ideas or a lot of money. *hand, meet forehead* He doesn't really ask for anything much, and if he wants something, he goes and gets it. I'm an awful person; case in point: I usually forget his birthday and he never forgets mine. He definitely deserves something amazing. What do you give someone who has everything he wants, doesn't ask for much, and usually gives to you instead of the other way around? Making dinner wouldn't be special; I almost always do that, and when I don't, we go to interesting restaurants, so... I want to do something different. Ack. Well, at least I have more than "a two dollar or maybe it's a five dollar." (See the Mother's Day post for the joke.) By the way, on Mother's Day, I was given a homemade Mother's Day cake and a necklace, and that was more than enough. Guess my daughter takes after me, making too big a deal out of things. Don't worry, I'm not going to run out and buy a boat, which is the only thing that I can think of that my husband would like that would also be AMAZING. For one, I don't know anything about boats, so I would probably get something that falls apart the minute it hits the water. Plus I can only afford a canoe or two with my own money, heh.

Sour Grapes from Strawberry Shortcake is expressing how I feel.Father's Day is this Sunday!!!For those of you who don't live in the U.S., it's not customary for mothers and fathers to give each other gifts on these holidays. Extra generosity is just something we like. Except that the closer it gets to this Sunday, the more I'm failing at getting one single idea. "There has to be something!" "Your love... ?" "James! I can't read minds!" "I have everything I want." "So did I, and you gave me Mother's Day gifts." "You can give me a pat on the head." "Ja-a-ames! That's weird!" Yes, his actual first name is James. Mine isn't Dora.
