I need to name my shameless self-insert, and draw a picture of her while I'm at it. I should name her something Latin. Haven't gotten around to it, because I tend to make up a lot of characters and never get around to writing anything about them.
Anyway, I'm curious. I think I'm like a lot of different characters in this show. All I ask is that you don't say I am like Muffy. I've been told that I am like her because of a few of my interests and the fact that purple is my favorite color, but she and Ed Crosswire are the only characters in the series that I actually dislike.
Name/Nickname: Sour Grapes. Yup, Momma named me that. (Of course I'm joking, but I'd rather not give out my real name on a public forum.)
Age: I'm probably old enough to be your mother, and this also applies to most "older" fans.
Yourself in 3 words: Oh, I don't think I can sum myself up in three words!
Maternal comes to my mind; I am nothing if not maternal. I'm a mother, an aunt, an instructor, a volunteer, and a friend, and I am maternal in respect to all of those occupations. A second choice for this word would be
protective. Other words are harder to think of.
Eccentric is something that I've been told I am. I'm
a little very oblivious to a lot of my eccentricities, though. The longer I live, the more I'm able to notice this and purposely generate laughs out of it. A second choice for this word would be
humorous.
Spirited seems like a clichéd word choice, but I do have a lot of spirit. I'm "the feisty one" of my family. This has gotten me through a lot, although it's also given me pains. Think of Jo March from "Little Women" -- but without the disdain for all things feminine; I've always been a feminine person in some ways.
Feisty, of course, is my second choice for this word.
Strengths:Well, I did just say that I was humorous, maternal, and spirited. I'm book smart, as well, and though I am not socially smart by nature, I can be taught. That said, I've got a dry sense of humor that is both a strength and a weakness. I have a lot of endurance, physically and mentally speaking. To a stranger, it would not seem that I have emotional endurance, but all things considered, I also have a lot of endurance in that department. I'm a creative person. I'm a deep thinker. I'm not the least bit shallow. Ah... I am running out of nice things to say about myself. One of my weaknesses is that I have a sadly low opinion of myself.
Basically, I'm that odd aunt that everyone knows who acts younger than she is and the relative that the younger generation can always talk to.
Likes:Gosh, I like too many things. More than anything, I love my family. But as for material things, what I like best is to analyze historical figures. I've always liked this. It's a strange interest, but it actually gave me a lot of insight into the human nature. I also like just experiencing life. I'm BIG on experiencing life. I work to help others, I plan on working to give others opportunities that I didn't have, I have a lot of fun doing nearly everything (from rock climbing to opera to cooking to exploring the overlooked corners of every town that I come to). Cheesy as this sounds, I just want to make a difference and have fun with my life.
Pet-Peeves: Bigotry and STRESS. That's the gist of it. I was born different, so I have never been one to stand for bigotry of any kind nor have I ever seen the point to it. Really, who in the world invented racism and such, and what was that good for? STRESS is easy to understand; who does like stress? I'm more easily anxious than most, though, to a limiting point, so it's pretty darn crucial for me to stay as relaxed as possible.
Hobbies:See
Likes. I'm up for a lot of things! Ask, and I'll probably agree to it!
FAVORITESFood: Sauerkraut and quiche, and almost all desserts. I have a sweet tooth, definitely. I'm also a vegetarian.
Snack: Well, I ate almost all the malt candies in my house today because they were there. I snack on any dessert that's there. I'll also fill up on yogurt or plums.
On the subject of snacks, the only things I really drink on a regular basis are water and fruit juices. I don't like soda pop or any type of fast food.
Color:Purple.
Type of music:My computer that I don't know much about has more country music than any other genre, mostly country music from when I was younger that I perhaps owe part of my gumption to, but I like almost all kinds of music.
Of note is that I'm also a singer and songwriter!
Movie: I don't have any idea. I have seen too many movies to have a favorite.
Animal: Snake. I know there aren't human-snakes in Arthur's world, but I've always liked snakes. They are so misunderstood. Most snakes aren't poisonous at all. And have you seen baby corn snakes? CUTE. CUTE. CUTE.
Book Genre:Autobiographies and mysteries. I can't stand chick lit (or chick flicks), because I never identify with those chicks!
School subject (even if its been awhile!):History. My grandfather who I never knew was a history professor. I take after him in many ways.
Arthur-Related:Minor Character and Why? Principal Herbert Haney. He reminds me of my husband! ♥
My husband and I are very different from each other, but we're a great team and each other's best friends. The people I've gotten along with best have always had at least a bit of his traits (with the exception of one of my brothers).
Arthur Pairing and Why?: I was thinking about this last night, and I'm not sure! I get mixed signals from most of the kids as to who should be with who. I can more easily tell you what my least favorite pairing is: Buster and Muffy. Why Muffy envisioned herself kissing Buster in
Muffy Gets Mature makes no sense to me. I know I mentioned that people can be different from each other in relationships, but there does have to be SOME common ground. I don't see any common ground or interests between those two. What would they do all day???
Arthur episode?:Again, I am not sure. There are a lot of good choices. In alphabetical order (because I don't know of a better order for now), here are some of my favorites...

D.W.: What did you draw?
Arthur: A dog and he's bored; see? What did you draw?
D.W.: A stick.
Arthur: A stick?!
D.W.: A stick from the park that you PROMISED TO TAKE ME TO TODAY!LEAST favorite Arthur Character and why?:Muffy Crosswire. I want to like her, really, but she remains unlikable to me. For example, in
How the Cookie Crumbles, I liked her until she revealed that she was only acting the way she was because she had a reputation as a winner. If only her motive had been to prove she could do something by herself. I can't stand her in
Muffy Goes Metropolitan and
Poor Muffy (although, to be fair, Francine was also too harsh in
Poor Muffy).
When I was a child, people assumed I was rude when I was not trying to be. That alongside being an assertive yet clueless girl caused people to misunderstand me as spoiled. I was anything but. So my disliking Muffy could possibly have a lot to do with this.
OPTIONAL: If you want to, include a picture of yourself or just describe what you look like!** I have to go with this blurry picture because of the
Locked in the Library mention. I'm proud to look like a marshmallow in my coat!
