In one of the Arthur episodes, Arthur and his friends age 5 years and meet in the park. They talk about who has won the contest, and the winner is actually a person named Holly Holland (I think that was her name) who also created the script for that episode. Speaking of creating episodes for Arthur, what kind of script would you write and how would you write it?
Let's create a fun new script for a pretend Arthur episode. What shall we put in it? How shall we write it? What will the actors do? For starters, we may also visit the official Arthur website and read the play about how D.W. got her library card.
I will start.
CHARACTERS:
Arthur Read, 8-year-old bespectacled average aardvark
Buster Baxter, 8-year-old white bunny who likes food and aliens and shares many interests including Bionic Bunny with Arthur
D.W., 4-year-old aardvark who loves Mary Moo Cow, preschooler things, her red blanket, Crazy Bus and complaining to Arthur that he stole her snowball and never confessed
SETTING:
The setting will take place in Arthur's living room. It is the one with the green striped sofa, facing the TV set and VCR. The door is on one side, and the upright piano is on the other. There are about 4 windows, but not all of them are filmed at once. In this scene, the audience will only see two windows; between the windows is the TV set, and across from the TV set is the sofa.
Arthur: [walks into room] So, what do you wanna do?
Buster: [walks with Arthur] I don't know. What do you wanna do?
Arthur: I don't know. What do you wanna do?
Buster: I don't know. What do you wanna do?
Arthur: I don't-- [becomes annoyed when D.W. runs in and interrupts the conversation]
D.W.: Mom says if you don't have anything to do, then you have to play Confuse the Goose with me.
Buster: Wait a minute. I just figured that I had something to do. At home. Bye, Arthur!
Arthur: Yeah, and I have to finish my homework. D.W., go play by yourself.
D.W.: You can't play Confuse the Goose by yourself. It's not a one-player game.
Arthur: [not listening and exits]
