April 22, 2009:
"The Blackout" - This featured the first appearance in 3 seasons for Alberto Molena, who with the other Molena family shows how they handle a blackout. Even in a fiesta which takes place prior to the return of power in Elwood City there's cameos by Mrs. MacGrady, Grandpa Dave, and Grandma Thora. And why would Dr. Jake the D.J. be still on the radio during the blackout?
"Mei-Lin Takes a Stand" - This is the second Mei-Lin appearance and also a talking Kate/Pal/Nemo/Mei-Lin episode. It also features the return of Pepe and Sale, the Flea Circus brothers (Sale doesn't talk, but honks a horn like Harpo Marx of the Marx Brothers does). I like Pepe's story about a princess played by Mei-Lin who wished she could stand and walk on two feet with Pal (Lap the dog - PAL spelled backwards!) as the jester. Nemo even used the turned to stone LAP as a scratching post!
Also, for the mid show segment, there is no "Postcards from You" segment, but...THE RETURN OF THE "A WORD FROM US KIDS" MID SHOW SEGMENT! (Called "A Word From a Chef") who talks about cooking without power or something like that. Why couldn't PBS/WGBH replace the Season 11 and several Season 12 "Postcards from You" segments with "A Word From Us Kids" segments?
NEXT UP: "Home Sweet Home/Do You Believe in Magic?"
